It can often seem that things you once learned at school are meaningless, but there are many invaluable lessons taught to you at school that help you in working life.
- Time management
When you are set homework or given deadlines at school, this is an invaluable skill applied to your working life. At work, you will be constantly given deadlines to meet, which can have serious repercussions if you miss them. There are no second chances like at school; your actions will have severe consequences not only for your position but also for the company. School teaches you to manage your time efficiently, and within a job, this is more important than anything.

There are many forms of rejection within your school life that will prepare you for rejections later on in life. Being at school has taught you the importance of taking instructions from people; this is instilled in you from a young age when you start school and can be applied to jobs. You must learn and follow instructions; this is crucial as nobody wants to employ a live wire that doesn’t listen and does whatever they want to. School teaches you to follow the rules, and this is in respect of both appropriate clothing to wear and how to follow instructions even if you don’t necessarily agree with them. The school enforces the belief system that if somebody is more knowledgeable on a subject, they must follow their lead and listen to their instructions to learn themselves.
