Everybody worries about getting fired, with the current economic climate making it increasingly difficult to get a job, it’s no surprise companies are laying people off with more and more people getting fired. If you’re worried about getting fired then these 10 signs might be for you!

1. Your Workload Has Gotten Smaller

Has your workload gotten smaller? Naturally with progression in a job people take on more work and responsibilities, If your workload has decreased this could be a sign you won’t be working there for much longer.

2. You’re left out

Are you being left out of blast emails, are they having meetings without you? This is a sure-fire sign that something is going on and they don’t want you to be a part of it. If you’re being kept out of the loop there could be a real reason for this!

3. Your boss goes directly to the people you’re in charge of

Does your boss usually go to you to pass work down the chain of command? A sure sign that you might be getting fired is your boss bypassing you and speaking to people beneath you within the workplace. This could mean he is planning to get rid of you and so doesn’t want to go through you to pass on workloads.

4. There’s been restructuring in management

If there’s been a restructure in management don’t be surprised if there are changes that are coming your way too. Often when there is a restructuring, people’s jobs can be merged creating new roles and meaning that they have to get rid of someone.

5. You have been told your performance has been poor

Has your boss been concerned about your poor performance? Often this is a sign you’re going to get fired, no management wants an employee on their books who has poor performance.

6. You’re not getting praised for your work anymore

This can mean that you’ve undervalued and underappreciated, often when an employer stops praising an employee this is because they know this employee won’t be working there for much longer.

7. Your role is no longer developing

If you’re no longer being offered opportunities to further your career and develop further this could be due to your employer not wanting to invest time or money in developing you further because they want to get rid of you.

8. Polite idle conversations are a thing of the past

If you’ve noticed people aren’t making small talk with you anymore this could be because they know they plan to get rid of you and therefore don’t want to engage in idle chats because they feel bad about firing you.

9. You’ve been asked to mentor somebody

This can sometimes be a sign that you’re going to be replaced with somebody with less experience, whilst this seems like a savage thing to do, stranger things have happened.

10. There’s a weird atmosphere when you enter a room

Do people stop talking when you walk into a room? This can be a sure sign that they know something that you don’t, this awkward tension could easily mean you’re about to get fired.
